Longtown Outdoor Learning Centre is a 70 bed residential centre set in 18 acres of grounds on the eastern edge of the Black Mountains. The centre has been operating since 1964. The centre offers challenging outdoor adventure activities in and around the Brecon Beacons National Park, with a warm and comfortable base in an old coaching inn.
The activities on offer include Mountain Walking, Gorge scrambling, Rock Climbing, Caving, Canoeing, Kayaking, Stand Up Paddleboarding, Bushcraft, Ropes Courses, Orienteering and Team Building.
Our multi-activity outdoor education courses aim to promote resilience, self-confidence, consideration for others, caring for the environment and the benefits of an active outdoor lifestyle. This comes from enjoying the successes achieved through personal endeavour and working together, in wild and beautiful landscapes. We are also able to offer self catering accommodation, day activities and mobile courses.
The Head of Centre is a registered member of the Outdoor Education Advsiers Panel and is able to offer Educational Visit Co-ordinator training and Visit Leader training as both open and closed courses.
